TUTO: PARASOL TOWEL

Today a tuto to prepare for summer all in colors! We wanted a large beach towel for young and old, reminiscent of a parasol pattern ⛱

👉 On @leboncoin you'll easily find beautiful beach towels (there are even new batches!)
👉 A little "parasol" type fringe braid, a sewing machine and you're off!

For this DIY you need :

  •  pattern to download and print
  •  3 striped beach towels in different colors (80cm wide x 165cm minimum)
  •  6m "parasol" braid or cotton bangs
  •  pins, scissors, sewing machine

Note: if you don't have a printer, you can also draw a pattern by hand, using the dimensions indicated in the document.

Steps :

Print pattern on A4 sheets (make sure you check "100% scale"), cut out and tape together.

Place on the napkin, center it, and make the middle of a stripe coincide with the tip of the pattern . Pin the pattern to the napkin, cutting all around.

Do this 6 times, alternating the colors of the towels to obtain 2x3 pieces of different colors. (1 towel = 2 pieces)

Do a test layout of all your pieces to see how you want to alternate your colors.

Place the first two colors of napkins right sides together, pin to one side, and machine stitch this side in a straight line!

Sewing is done at 1cm intervals: sewing values are included in pattern . Start at the tip and stop at the end, where the curve begins.

Then continue by stitching (still right sides together) the next side with the next color, and so on until you've sewn all 6 pieces - finish by stitching the last side to close the circle.

Press all seams inside out, opening them.

Now sew the braid for the first time, right sides together, with the bangs positioned towards the center of the circle, i.e. the wrong way round.

Sew the braid all around the circle, trimming off any excess. Then turn it over and stitch again on the right side, this time with the bangs facing outwards, in the right direction. This creates a hem and completes your finish!

✨ And ... TA-DA!!!
