COUVRE-CHEF MML x FLOTTE Web exclusive

Regular price m.44

GOOD TO KNOW!

Do the two models in this collab fit from 34 to 52 like all MML pieces?

Exactly! We've compared our size charts and made sure that the sizes shown (from XS to XXL) actually correspond to the sizes we usually offer (so an XS will fit a size 34 and an XXL a size 52).

For the record, raincoat cuts are rather baggy, so you'll be able to wear a sweater underneath if you take your usual size!

Waterproof, water-repellent, waterproof: what's the difference?

On a garment water-repellentWater droplets glide over its surface, but can penetrate the fabric if pressure is exerted on it (a backpack, for example). Unlike a waterproof, the water-repellent won't keep you dry as long because too much pressure can cause water to seep under the fabric and get you wet!

Clothing waterprooffor their part, are garments whose seams have been worked to keep the piece watertight and prevent water from entering. Seams are heat-bonded or ultrasonically welded. That said, a waterproof garment won't let through the water vapors emitted by your body (when you sweat, for example), which has a direct impact on comfort.

A waterproofThe advantage of this garment is that it keeps you dry while allowing heat and moisture from your body to pass through. A winning combination.

Are the clothes unisex?

Yes, the garments are designed to suit a mixed build. The cut is not fitted by default, so you can easily slip a chunky sweater underneath (or fit yourself if you like with the Caumartin model).

Are the hoods removable and adjustable?

Yes, the hoods are removable and adjustable on both models: Saint-Martin and Caumartin.

a 100% recycled collab

But how?

The Flotte brand started from an alarming observation: plastic represents nearly 320 million tonnes of future waste, and less than half of this plastic production is recycled. They therefore chose to turn to a more responsible and sustainable alternative: rPET or recycled polyester.

Their garments are designed from recycled plastic, containing no harmful substances, and manufactured under healthy and fair working conditions. Since 2020, over 2 million plastic bottles have been recycled into waterproof jackets by Flotte, and that's just the beginning!

What is rPET?

Essentially derived from the recycling of used bottles, food packaging and used clothing, rPET (or recycled polyester) it is simply the fruit of this recycling, reduced to the state of fiber for reuse.

In concrete terms?
Plastic waste is sorted, washed and crushed into granules - the start of a new life cycle for plastic waste. From this, we can already manufacture a 100% recycled textile fiber, rPET / Polyester.

This material ages slowly and is highly resistant to UV rays and the elements. A true eco-responsible alternative, rPET is comparable in quality to ordinary polyester and nylon.

The models are made in China, so why not in Europe?

As you know, almost all our products at Make My Lemonade are made in Europe. We'd been wanting to co-create rainwear with a specialized brand that shared our values for a long time, and we quickly realized that the technical skills and know-how required were to be found in China. So we were all the more concerned that production should be carried out in the best possible conditions: that's where Flotte came in. Beyond our affinities, we knew that founders Lyly Wu and Mickaël Pan were particularly sensitive to the issue of manufacturing conditions for their products. This is one of the reasons why they chose to manufacture their products using polyester that is totally recycled from plastic waste.

"Manufacturing is carried out in a factory specialized in the manufacture of outerwear, which is located in the Zhejiang region of China, where we control the production chain. Our partner factory is BSCI certified, a label that guarantees healthy and fair working conditions. The manufacture of our parts requires special technical skills and know-how that cannot be found elsewhere". Lyly Wu, founder of Flotte.

What material certifications does Flotte offer?

At Flotte, all fabrics are certified Oeko-Tex Standard 100 and GRS (Global Recycled Standard).

Oeko-Tex Standard 100 is an international label indicating that the textile does not contain substances harmful to humans, and that the product is safe for human health.

GRS (Global Recycled Standard) is an international standard that certifies the use of recycled materials in products, and includes criteria such as social and environmental treatment requirements, as well as chemical restrictions.

The aim is to reduce the harmful effects of production on people and the environment. Provide assurance that products are processed in a more sustainable way. Increase the percentage of recycled content in products.

How do you care for your waterproof clothing?

We recommend that you close all zippers and wash your garments cold, with a maximum temperature of 30°C. On your washing machine, use the "delicate" program and use a liquid detergent without fabric softener. We don't recommend tumble-drying your clothes, but drying them in the shade.
