TUTORIAL: MEMPHIS BRUNCH

It's DIY o'clock! Today we've got lots of plate ideas for a Memphis-style brunch! Full of fruit and color, sweet, savory, multicolored and, of course, black and white! 🖤🤍🖤
Here's what we used for this Memphis table, in order of appearance in the video:
  • Pink checkerboard plate: Small watermelon squares and small guava squares (3cm x 3cm x 1cm, don't hesitate to use a graduated cutting mat or a ruler!)
  • Plate print #1: Mango slices + cherry halves + black grape halves + blueberry halves
  • Assiette tartine damier noir & blanc: Toasted slice of brioche cut thickly + cheese spread + blackberry jam + whole blackberries
  • Yogurt and peas plate: Greek-style fromage blanc + whole blueberries. Sweeten if you wish.
  • Striped plate: 3 different types of hummus. Green hummus: follow a classic hummus recipe, replacing the chickpeas with peas. Red hummus: make a classic hummus, replacing 2/3 of the chickpeas with red cabbage (raw or cooked), add lemon and voilà! It's red! Note: this also works with beet. Blue hummus: Simply save some of the red hummus (before adding the lemon) and replace the lemon with bicarbonate of soda. A chemical reaction will take place and...ta-da! It's blue! Serve with a teaspoon or piping bag, recreating the alternating stripe pattern.
  • Purple round plate in orange round Make a hummus by replacing half the chickpeas with pickled red bell pepper. Create a round center by cutting small pieces of turnip into triangles, arranging them to create a circle. You can also make a pink circle with radish. 🙂
  • Plate print #2: Choose a rectangular plate. Make an outline with coulis (in this case, mango coulis). Create a grid with black sesame seeds. Cut fruit geometrically. Here, rectangles = mango and kiwi, triangle = apricot, round = fig, small circles = blueberry. Dip the fruit alternately into the coulis and then into the sesame seeds.
  • Fruit plates: To round off your table, you can present half fruits that look like they came straight out of the Memphis movement! Papaya, dragon fruit, grenadilla, passion fruit, kiwi ... Add colorful fruit juices and pitas or a bread basket for hummus.
And... TA-DA! A table full of color! Have fun! These are just a few ideas, but if you keep your eyes peeled, you'll see a thousand ways to create patterns on your plates!
